The Prophet

Peering into the close, nearby future

Trying not to look too far ahead

Not wanting to spoil for himself the ending

Holding on to hope that things can change

He searches for each new possibility

He appeals to God to lend his graceful hand

He fights the leading sources of the problem

Although he knows that it may mean his end

Can he help save all humanity?

Will the Lord listen to his pleas?

Is that why God put him on this planet?

To turn God's anger from His mighty hand?

Perhaps that's why God made him such a joker

Perhaps God needed to laugh once again

Perhaps being God's fool isn't so awful

If His purpose plays the winning hand

So he trudges forward with his given purpose

Teaching those who'll listen when he can
